Brooms
Industrial brooms for sweeping large areas make cleaning after a job much easier. Large and dense bristles allow you to sweep thoroughly and gather all the dust and debris that has settled. We offer different coloured industrial brooms so you can differentiate between areas and avoid possible cross contamination. Most of our brooms can be used in both wet and dry conditions and on all surfaces, so you have all your bases covered.
Brushes
Commercial Brushes have much tougher bristles and are sturdy enough to use on most surfaces. We offer different shapes and sizes of brushes so you can effectively clean your area - pointed edges to allow you to to reach corners, rectangular for small gaps, and larger brushes for a big surface area.
Dust Pan & Brush Sets
Industrial long-handled dustpan and brush make it easy to pick up what you have swept into a pile - no bending down and straining your back you can use it while standing up. These are available in a range of materials depending on the project, for example you may require metal for sweeping hot debris as plastic would melt. We also offer the traditional short-handle dustpan and brush in a range of colours and sizes to avoid cross-contamination.
Mop & Buckets
At Direct Trades Supply we stock Mops and Buckets in a range of colours to assist you in differentiating between cleaning products (some cleaning products may not be fully removed from one mop and cannot be used on another surface). Easy-to-use wringer buckets allow you to step down on a lever to wring the mop.
Squeegee
For cleaning windows or flat, non-porous surfaces, squeegees will be extremely useful. At DTS we stock a range of sizes and applicators of squeegees, including; Hand held, extendable handles, squeegees with a microfibre edge for cleaning, and squeegees with only a silicone side which can be used for sweeping water from concrete.
Steel Wool
Apart from cleaning, steel wool can be used for many applications in building and construction. It’s important to note there are different types of steel wool categorised by their thickness and applications, so be sure to choose the one that is right for your project. Steel wool can remove stains from many surfaces by buffing away the unwanted substance, clean rust, or be used to purposely age wood or other soft materials. To remove sticky residue on windows or glass, a very fine steel wool mixed with window cleaner will do the trick.
Vacuum Cleaners
Industrial Vacuum Cleaners will make cleaning your site an easy task. Some industrial vacuum cleaners are worn as a backpack so you don’t have to drag the console around and potentially spread the mess further. At DTS we stock both backpack and floor vacuum cleaners, so you can select the one right for you (it is not recommended to use a backpack vacuum if you have previous back issues). We have vacuums that can be used on both wet and dry materials, so you can be sure your area will be cleaned efficiently. We also offer cordless and cord options depending on your needs. Bleach
Please note that bleach is not a cleaner, it is a disinfectant. Bleach can be used to remove tough stains and to whiten surfaces (often used with clothing). Please take note of the strength of bleach required for your particular application.
- Bleach must be diluted with water for safe use.
- For 0.5% Bleach solution mix 1 part 5% bleach, and 9 parts water. This is recommended for cleaning blood and bodily fluids.
- For 0.1% Bleach solution mix 1 part 0.5% bleach, and 4 parts water. This is recommended for disinfecting surfaces.
Chlorine
While Chlorine may be present in most commercial cleaning products, it is often bought separately as it’s often used to clean concrete. Chlorine is similar to bleach in that it is not a cleaner, but is used as a disinfectant. You will most likely know chlorine to be used in swimming pools to kill germs, however there are many uses such as; disinfecting surfaces that have foodborne germs, air conditioning refrigerants, solar panels, and plastic foam.
Degreaser
Degreaser is used to remove grease and oil that are stuck to hard surfaces. Degreasers are available with different bases, for example; Solvent-based (contain chemicals), Water-based (ideal for use in agriculture and food industries) or Natural (using natural ingredients such as vinegar). Industries in the following sections; automotive, marine, mechanical, oil & gas, should use a solvent-based degreaser due to the tough substances it will need to be used on. Natural degreasers can be used in households, hospitals, and schools, as they generally pose no risk to humans.
Hydrochloric Acid
Hydrochloric Acid is a very strong chemical that should only be used with appropriate PPE. This chemical can be used to remove stains from bricks, remove rust from metals, and to etch floors.
Hydrochloric Acid can be very irritating to the respiratory system, and can damage skin if you come into contact with it.
Methylated Spirits
Methylated Spirits are often known as a household cleaning product that is also a disinfectant. Useful for removing residue and stains, methylated spirits prevents lime and creates shiny surfaces which is why it is often used for cleaning tiles and glass. This chemical is not suitable for use on wood or plastic, as it can change the appearance of the materials. You may also see methylated spirits referred to as ‘denatured alcohol’.
Turps
Turps or Turpentine, is often used on worksites for cleaning oil-based substances such as paint or varnish. It is a useful chemical for cleaning paint brushes, or cleaning wood before applying a finishing coat. Turpentine is free of compounds that add to environmental pollution and degradation, so it can be used in place of petroleum-based solvents. A useful stain remover, turpentine can be used on ceramic surfaces such as bathtubs, sinks, and toilets which may develop stains overtime.
